On the 13th April, 2016. 4MR went to Southampton Art Gallery. We all enjoyed it very much. Once we arrived there, we went straight to the workshop. Today we made Roman shields out of clay! First, we designed our shields. Then, we took a lump of brown clay and marked out the shape. We then cut it out. Using a pencil, we had to carve our design into the clay. After that we had grey clay and made our design. We then stuck it on and we used water. Only a little! After this, we put the date of our birth on the bottom in Roman numerals. Last, we dabbed gold dust around the edges of our work. All the shields were beautiful because they were unique.
We had a wonderful trip and would love to go back again!
